Cassie-Tea is a traditional Native American blend for cellular support, which contains a safe harmonizing combination of turkey rhubarb root; sheep sorrel root, burdock root and slippery elm bark powder. Cassie Tea is based on a preparation established by centuries of traditional use and brought to the rest of the world by Rene Caisse, the famous Canadian nurse.

How to use

Prepare as a tea.

The directions for Cassie-Tea (bags), as they appear on the box are:

Immerse one tea bag in one cup hot water for 15-20 minutes. Remove the tea bag and let tea cool in the refrigerator. Take in 1/4 cup doses throughout the day. Discard any unused portion at the end of the day.

Storage

Keep out of reach of children!

Caution

The leaves of the Sheep Sorrel Herb (Rumex acetosella) are a rich source of Vitamin C, but should not be eaten uncooked, as they "contain oxalic acid, which can aggravate gout."

Do not use Turkey Rhubarb Root if pregnant or nursing. The Botanical Safety Handbook says, "Contraindicated in intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unknown origin or any inflammatory condition of the intestines (appendicitis, colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel, etc.); and in children less than 12 years of age; individuals with a history of kidney stones should use this herb cautiously."

The Botanical Safety Handbook says AHPA recommends the following label for products containing [turkey rhubarb root] in sufficient quantity to warrant such labeling: "Do not use this product if you have abdominal pain or diarrhea. Consult a health care provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing. Discontinue use in the event of diarrhea or watery stools. Do NOT exceed recommended dose. Not for long-term use." The Handbook does not define the phrase "in sufficient quantity to warrant such labeling," but gives the standard dose as "1.0-5.0 grams daily, directly consumed or decocted as a tea, or up to 12.0 grams daily" according to traditional Chinese authors.

There is a slight potential for sensitization via skin contact with Burdock Root. The Botanical Safety Handbook gives this editor's note for Burdock Root: "Although De Smet and Wren report a single poisoning with 'atropine-like' symptoms, this isolated case has been shown to be due to adulteration with belladonna (Burnham, 1996)." De Smet's later volume clarifies the point by stating that the "principle risk appears to be due to adulteration or contamination with belladonna root." For more details about the case see Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs, 56-7.

As with any nutritional supplement, consult a health care provider prior to use if you are pregnant or nursing, have a medical condition, or are taking any medication.
