Detailed product description
While individual antioxidants grab one free radical and then change state, becoming free radicals themselves, Cascading Revenol's® advanced antioxidant cascading formulation provides cooperative antioxidants that are able to neutralize most free radicals that are formed to minimize oxidative damage. Neways' Cascading Revenol® has an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) value of 3600 (See Table 1).
Antioxidants assist the natural enzymatic repair system of the cells of the body from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that attack DNA and mitochondria, thereby impairing the functional health of membranes and organs. This damage impedes the replication of healthy cellular material throughout the body.
Antioxidants act as a protector against exposure to ultraviolet or gamma radiation, pesticides, preservatives, chemical pollution and heavy metals, all of which produce free radicals in the body. Free radicals are implicated in the causation of over 60 degenerative diseases and play a key role in conditions such as the aging process, cancer and atherosclerosis. The body's natural fight against free radicals is covered by the enzymes: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase. Diet and supplements provide additional sources of free radical quenching antioxidants. Intake of antioxidant nutrients can reduce the risk of many diseases by achieving a reversal of many symptoms caused by free radical damage.
Over 1100 different families of free radicals are known to exist. They are everywhere – in the air you breathe, the food you eat, even the sunshine can activate free radicals. Although some antioxidants are superior in selectively fighting specific free radicals, there is no one single antioxidant that can rid the body of all free radicals.
Cascading Revenol® not only provides the best antioxidants in the doses the body needs – its unique formulation will also provide the benefits of antioxidant cascades.
In several cases, after an antioxidant molecule has scavenged a free radical, the antioxidant molecule itself becomes a free radical. Vitamin E and C are excellent examples of useful antioxidants that absorb up to one free radical per molecule and then become free radicals. However, Neways' Cascading Revenol® formulation allows for Vitamin C to regenerate the antioxidant effects of Vitamin E. Glutathione is responsible for the regeneration of Vitamin C to its original beneficial form.
Then, Alpha Lipoic Acid helps do the same for Glutathione. This process is further carried out by other ingredients in the never-ending antioxidant cascading combinations. An impressive cascade consists of the antioxidant molecule, carnosic acid, found in Neways' Rosemary Extract. Other cascades in Cascading Revenol® are found within the relationship between carotenoids, bioflavonoids, selenium and sulphate. These antioxidants work together to reactivate the free radical scavenging activity of otherwise inert antioxidant molecules.
Different antioxidant nutrients act in very different ways. Some antioxidants act upon cellular cytoplasm, some in the cell nuclei, others in cell membranes, and still others in the aqueous portion of the bloodstream or within particles of lipoprotein in the blood. Various antioxidants also vary in their efficiency against free radicals and other reactive oxygen species. Just as one vitamin or one mineral is not the key to total health, one antioxidant is not the key to effective free-radical elimination and longevity. Cascading Revenol® contains all the major antioxidants the body needs to combat free radical damage.
The benefits of an army of the most superior antioxidants in the world are all in one bottle – Cascading Revenol®. There is no comparison in the nutritional industry.
ORAC - OXYGEN RADICAL ABSORBANCE CAPACITY
ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. This is the standard by which scientists measure antioxidant activity in foods and supplements.
Antioxidants and Free Radicals
Antioxidants protect the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals. Foods that score high in an ORAC antioxidant analysis may protect cells and their components from oxidative damage, according to ORAC studies of animals and human blood at the USDA Agricultural Research Service's (ARS) Human Nutrition Research Center On Aging at Tufts University in Boston. ARS is the chief scientific agency of the United States Department Of Agriculture (USDA).
Free Radicals are unstable molecules that constantly attack the body from the outside (caused by sunlight, pollution, electromagnetic radiation, etc.), and from the inside due to normal metabolism and living. These unstable molecules, through a self-perpetuating chain reaction, generate millions of new free radicals that damage proteins, cells, tissues and organs. Antioxidants maintain health, prevent, and/or minimize damage by supporting the very proteins, cells, tissues and organs that are targeted by free radicals.
Why is Understanding ORAC Important?
Research suggests that the consumption of fruits and vegetables with a high ORAC value - 1600 to 5000 units per 100 grams/3.5 ounces - may support anti-aging in both the body and the brain, and may have a significant impact on plasma and tissue antioxidant capacity. ORAC scores are used by nutritionists to identify which of these foods offer a higher capacity to absorb free radicals. The higher the ORAC score, the greater number of antioxidants present, and the more oxygen a food can absorb.
The use of ORAC scores easily identifies which foods are better at maintaining the body's health. The studies indicate that eating plenty of high-ORAC foods:
- Raises the antioxidant power of human blood 10-25 percent
- Supports the ability of brain cells in middle-aged rats to respond to a chemical stimulus - a function that normally decreases with age
Several laboratories have reported that individual plant-derived antioxidants (flavonoids) are thought to have protective powers. Approximately 4000 flavonoids have been identified. They constitute a major class of antioxidants and appear to be responsible for the foremost part of fruit and vegetable power. Scientists have found evidence that food antioxidants are not only absorbed but actually boost the antioxidant power of the blood.
The ORAC values of different foods vary so widely that selecting the right foods is vitally important. For example, choosing six foods with lower values could provide less ORAC units than a single food with a high score. Studies have yielded even more support for high ORAC diets. High ORAC diets have been linked to the fortification of nerve cells within the brain against effects of aging. Researchers have concluded that high ORAC diets help manage and support motor skills and memory function.
The current recommendation of 5 to 10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day translates to approximately 4000-7000 ORAC units per day. Studies show that worldwide, the average person now consumes less than 2000 ORAC units per day. Therefore, it is clear that supplements high in ORAC value are necessary.
Neways Supplement's Scores Excel
Neways International (UK) Ltd. commissioned an independent laboratory in the UK to test the ORAC values of some of Neways' supplements for comparison with fruit and vegetables. (See Table 1 where ORAC is measured in umol Trolox equivalents per gram - umol TE/g).
The results were rewarding. One Neways' Revenol® supplement has an ORAC score of 800 and one Neways' Cascading Revenol® supplement scored an incredible 3600 units.
Compared with whole fruits and vegetables, the testing showed that Cascading Revenol® is 150 times, and Revenol® is 33 times more powerful than the best antioxidant fruit, blueberries.
In an independent test of the new, improved Maximol Solutions® formula - which contains raspberry and blueberry concentrates, green tea extract, and strawberry, elderberry and orange fruit extracts - showed Maximol's ORAC value to be 735.6.
What Does All of This Mean For You?
A half-ounce of Maximol Solutions® in the morning and another half ounce at night plus one Revenol® and one Cascading Revenol® daily will give you almost 5000 ORAC units per day. Coupled with a sensible daily diet, this can ensure your daily ORAC level will not only meet the recommended minimum, it will exceed it.
